How listings are checked
Refill Not Swap is a small directory of places that refill your own propane tank, as opposed to exchange-only cages. It is run independently; no business pays to be listed or to be ranked.
Where the information comes from
- The business’s own web page first. A place is marked “Refills tanks (confirmed)” only when its own website (or the official location page of its chain) says it refills cylinders.
- Other public pages second. Chamber of commerce listings, chain store locators and similar public pages may fill in a phone number or address. When we use one, it is listed as a source on that listing.
- Public posts as leads only. Forum posts and reviews can point us to a place, but a post alone never makes a listing “confirmed”.
What each label means
- Refills tanks (confirmed) — the business’s own page says it refills propane cylinders.
- Propane listed, refills NOT confirmed — the business lists “propane” but does not say whether that means refills or exchange. Call before you go.
- Exchange only — the source says it swaps tanks but does not refill.
What we show, and what we leave blank
For each place we record: name, address, phone, website, refill vs. exchange, tank sizes (20 lb, 30 lb, 100 lb, RV, forklift), any publicly posted price with the page it came from and the date we saw it, hours, whether it’s open Sundays or evenings, source links, and the date we last checked.
If a source doesn’t say it, we leave it blank. We don’t guess sizes, hours or prices, and we don’t publish ratings or reviews.
Dates and “call ahead”
Every listing shows “Last checked [date]. Call ahead to confirm.” Prices posted online can change daily, and stores change their propane hours and services without notice.
Corrections
If something is wrong or out of date, use the Report a correction link on the listing (or in the footer). Corrections are checked against a public source or the business itself before the listing is changed.
What this site doesn’t do
It doesn’t give safety, legal or financial advice, and it doesn’t promise that any place will have propane, staff or a given price when you arrive.
